Our Programs

Medical Outreach

Why We Do It.

Children living in poverty and or remote locations usually suffer from preventable or treatable health problems because medical services and supplies are not readily available or accessible for them.

About Our Medical Outreach

At HCI we believe that proper medical attention can prevent common childhood illnesses from becoming life threatening
We mobilize, support, empower and facilitate Village Health Teams (VHTs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs) to deliver lifesaving curative and preventive interventions closer to where children live. We reach out and serve/treat sick children who have limited access to facility based health services. Due to the burdens of poverty, geographical locations and sometimes insecurity in some areas, many children are unable to access healthcare services from hospitals. Many children have never been to a doctor before. We therefore work to reduce morbidity and mortality among children in displaced and or underserved populations. Support frontline health workers in the most in need communities to deliver lifesaving care like immunization, ORS, antibiotics, vitamins, malaria drugs among others.

Diagnostic and case management interventions of four of the poverty diseases among children namely, malaria, measles, pneumonia and diarrheal diseases.

• We work to Improve service delivery by supporting outreach services.

• We work to Increase demand by mobilizing and sensitizing communities

We work with CHWs and health workers attached to HCI to provide basic medicines and treatment, medical supplies, laboratory tests, primary healthcare and health education. We initiate and facilitate referral for cases that need hospitalization and or specialized medical care. We check for malnutrition and also give vitamin A and deworming medicines.  Reaching out to children who would have rather found it difficult to access a health facility due to maybe distance, transportation costs or treatment costs. We bring the health services near to them. (Hard to reach areas)

At Heal A Child International we strongly believe that investing in child health care reduces poverty by protecting poor families from the costs of healthcare, allowing them to invest in their future for example in housing, education and income generating activities.
